Theta-Upsilon Chapter returns to Miami!


Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Upham Hall 54 young men were initiated into Kappa Sigma and the Theta-Upsilon Chapter was installed. (4 more members will be initiated Friday March 4). A transfer student from the Beta Chapter of the University of Alabama was also affiliated. 

The effort was coordinated by Alumnus Advisor, Wesley Bren IC '85 and involved initiation teams from six chapters in the region, starting at 8:00 AM  in the morning and concluding around 3:30.   

The evening featured a banquet with over 180 members and guests with presentations made by the Worthy Grand Scribe, Daniel Tierney; Executive Director, Mic Wilson; the Chapter's Grand Master, Emmett Jones; and Bren. 

Theta-Upsilon Alumni were present for the ceremonies and celebration including:

  • Brother Tom Wenning from the original founding class of April 1, 1967, The Chapter’s second Grand Master, inducted into the Chapter’s Hall of Fame in 2012 and traveled from his home in Maryland.
  • Brother David Brinkman IC '81, who served multiple years at the Alumnus Advisor of the Chapter in the 80s, Currently serving as the Assistant District Grand Master in Northern Ohio and on the KSTUAA Chapter Advisory Council and was inducted in the Chapter’s Hall of fame in 2017
  • Brother Jay Cavender IC '80, Currently serving as the AAA-GS and on the KSTUAA Chapter Advisory Council
  • Brother Dr. Jay Puccio IC '82, Currently serving on the KSTUAA (Alumni Association Chapter Advisory Council)
  • Brother Rick Sippola IC '85, Currently serving as the Chairmen of the Theta-Upsilon HOF committee who was able to participate in the initiation of both of his son, Quinn and Kirt. 
  • Brother John Schoger IC '87, serving as Vice President of the Theta Upsilon Housing Company Board and who crashed the speakers podium with a Greek lesson!  
  • Brother Michael Behrens  IC '90, from Cincinnati and Serves on the Theta Upsilon Housing Company Board. Brother Behrens briefly served as an AAA with the Chapter in 2015.
  • Brother Clay Hunt,  IC '90, who serves as the president of the Kappa Sigma Theta-Upsilon Alumni Association (KSTUAA).

It was a Great day for Kappa Sigma and for Theta-Upsilon Alumni every where!
