Fricker Cup 2022 registration is open!

KSTUAA has announced that registration is open for the 55th Anniversary Edition Fricker Cup.  Registration Deadline is March 1.

In a video posted to the KSTUAA YouTube Channel on November 30, two-time Fricker Cup Champion, Wes Bren IC '85 announced exciting new changes to this year's Fricker Cup format.

Bren explained that the Ryder Cup had been the original inspiration for the Fricker Cup and that the Fricker Cup Rules Committee saw the 55th Anniversary as the perfect opportunity to introduce a team element to our tournament.

This year, each twosome in a tee-time will be assigned to either the Red or White team (Miami Colors) and will compete for each hole. The twosome with the lower score on each hole wins that hole. If their scores are tied, the hole is halved. The scores role up to a team score.

A winning team will be announced and the best twosome score from within the winning team will be hailed as this year's Fricker Cup Champions, having their names engraved on the trophy and gaining the ability to hold the trophy with their bare hands and avoid the curse of Fricker! Only 12 Alumni of the 1000+ have won the tournament since its inception in 2014.

Brad Flinders IC '86, a two-time Fricker Cup Champion himself and a former Miami University Varsity golfer was named the Red Team Captain.

John Henry IC '85, a frequent Fricker Cup competitor who was onsite for this year's Ryder Cup was named the White Team Captain.

Each participant will be provided with a custom red or white golf shirt for the tournament.

The tournament will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 as part of the 55th Anniversary reunion of the Theta-Upsilon Chapter.  Tee-times start at 10:30 AM

Because of the anticipated supply chain and shipping delays expected to secure the team shirts the registration deadline has been set for March 1, 2022.

To add to the excitement and drama, Fricker Cup organizers have devised a way to create an electronic Leaders Board using Google sheets. One participant from each tee-time will need to upload scores each hole to their spreadsheet which will feed into the digital leaderboard. This will also assist with some of the complications of calculating two competitions at once (the team based match play and the best ball score for the ultimate Fricker Cup Champion.)

Some of the tournaments favorite rules and features like the Eddie Fricker Switcheroo Card will also make a return.

Alumni are strongly encouraged to find their partners and register as soon as possible.   Click for the online Registration Form. More details will be posted on this website on the Fricker Cup page.

Green fees, cart, range access, team golf shirt and prizes are included in the registration fee of $115.00. KSTUAA Annual dues of $25 are also required if you have not already paid them.

Participants are encouraged to secure rooms on Thursday night from our block at the hotels listed on the 55th Anniversary page.
